Sheriff Lutz: NO Credible Threat to Schools

Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz says an investigation is underway into some social media posts that involve threats to area schools.
Sheriff Lutz says that there have been multiple inquires from around the county about a possible incident at several of area schools.
Lutz says that he can assure the public that these rumors, statements, comments and jokes were followed up by school administrators and his school resource officers. Lutz says there were NO credible threats found.
The sheriff say law enforcement is constantly monitoring situations like these and alerting parents and students would be the highest priority if any threat was present.
Lutz says he would like to thank those that brought this to his attention. He added that jokes and rumors involving threats will be dealt with swiftly.
Lutz says the list of schools receiving the social media threats including Zanesville, Philo, Maysville and John Glenn.
An earlier reports that included the Mid-East Career Center as part of the schools threatened, was in error.
