Sheriff’s Office to Move
Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office needs more space and the Child Support Building on the East Pike could provide the solution to the problem.
Due to staff cuts the child support building has room for the Sheriff’s office to move in. Child Support and Children’s Services will move to the second floor of the building. The sheriff’s office would be on the first floor if the plans gains approval.
"We are missing a lot of information with our administration being in one office out radio room being in another and our road people being in another location so this is going to put everybody under one roof the communication is just going to get so much better" Sheriff Matt Lutz.
Move-in costs will be calculated by next Monday. The biggest cost maybe moving the sheriff’s office radio center. The sheriff’s office is currently renting a downtown building.
"Right off the bat, we are paying x amount of dollars for rent um and we’ve been doing that since 2001 so this gets us back into a building that the county basically owns" said Lutz.
The sheriff’s office want to make the move as soon as possible.
