Shining Light on Stillbirth Awareness

Pink And Blue

ZANESVILLE, OH – Friday, September 19th, is Ohio Stillbirth Prevention Day. It’s a time to remember the tiniest of lives who left the biggest marks on our hearts, and to raise awareness.

In Ohio, the stillbirth rate is higher than the national average, which makes this day especially important to so many. Across the state, people are encouraged to wear pink or blue, snap a photo, and share it online with the hashtag Ohio Stillbirth Prevention Day. This small gesture carries a big message of love, remembrance, and hope.

“We want to find ways to have greater experiences with research, to bring greater awareness to women and what’s happening with their bodies, and to realize that there are a lot of grieving families. They’re kind of being set aside when it comes to mental health, when it comes to grief, and when it comes to loss. We want to help them recognize that they are a part of our culture, what they are going through is important, there are people who are listening, and they are not alone.” President of Miles’ Mission, Dr. Michael Bullock said.

To help honor these little ones in a beautiful way, Miles’ Mission is hosting a Memorial Golf Outing at the Zanesville Country Club. The event will be held on September 29th, with a shotgun start at 11:00 A.M. While golfers will be swinging for a cause, everyone is welcome to come out, show support, and enjoy the day.

“We have a full field this year. So, we’re excited about that. We have some amazing people coming from the region, from Zanesville, from Columbus, and from Newark. We’re happy and we’re excited about it. I think it’s going to be a great event.” Dr. Bullock said.
