Shirley Griffin

Shirley Ann Griffin, 102, passed away on September 1, 2025 at The Oaks
Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. She was born on December 28, 1922 in
Zanesville, Ohio the only child of Fred A. Westenbarger and Elizabeth J.
Johnson Westenbarger.
She graduated from Zanesville High School in 1940. Shirley was employed by Ohio Bell as a switchboard operator and later promoted to management. Upon retirement, she moved to Florida in 1975. Shirley loved to travel and play
shuffleboard and was inducted into the Florida Shuffleboard Hall of Fame
Association in 2006. She also enjoyed playing euchre and bingo with her
neighborhood friends. In 2020, she moved back to Zanesville and resided at The Oaks where she liked to participate in shopping trips, playing cards, and getting her nails done by Jodi. Shirley especially looked forward to family visits where she was always the “Queen of Uno”.
She is survived by her daughter, Dedi (Jim) Spargrove; her son, Mike (JaNelle)
Russi, a son-in-law, Keith Bobholz; 14 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her daughter, Cheri Bobholz and her previous husbands, Harold Russi, Larry Vaughn, and Charlie Griffin.
In accordance with Shirley’s wishes, cremation has taken place under the care of
Bryan and Hardwick Funeral Home. A private burial will be observed later.
The family extends heartfelt appreciation to The Oaks and Hospice staff for their
loving care during Shirley’s final days.
