Shirley Howdyshell

Shirley M. Howdyshell, 89, of Somerset, Ohio passed away peacefully at 3:27pm on Friday, July 17, 2026 at the Pickering House, FAIRHOPE Hospice in Lancaster, Ohio surrounded by her loving family.

Born September 15, 1936 in Copley, Ohio to the late Bascom and Frances Long Blanton.

Shirley was a lifetime member of the New Lexington Baptist Church; 58 year member of Thornville Chapter of the O.E.S. and the Pantry Singers at the Perry County Senior Center.

Survived by her children, David Howdyshell, Jr., Nancy (Joe) Flautt, Lori (Tim) Thomas and Lisa (Roger) Hinkle; 11 grandchildren, Cherry (Kevin) Lambert, David Howdyshell, III, Daniel (Alisa) Howdyshell, Will (Ashley) Flautt, Alan (Lacey) Flautt, Kendall (Ryan) Foster, Matt (Amy) Thomas, Brandon (Emily) Thomas, Christy (Todd) Pollock, Roger (Heather) Hinkle, Jr. and Stacie Hinkle (Kevin Radigan); 21 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, preceded in death by her husband, David G. Howdyshell, May 10, 2017 and two brothers, Gene and Lynn Blanton.

Calling hours will be held from 3pm-5pm with O.E.S. services at 4:45pm and funeral service at 5:00pm with Pastor Jon Emory officiating on Friday, August 7, 2026 at the New Lexington Baptist Church, 890 South Main Street, New Lexington, Ohio.

Private family burial will take place in Community Gardens Cemetery, New Lexington at a later date.
