Shopping Day for Small Businesses

In between the chaos of Black Friday and Cyber Monday is a shopping day dedicated to supporting small businesses.

Small Business Saturday has been gaining popularity since its creation last year.  Imlay Florists in downtown Zanesville is celebrating 170 years of business.  Owner David Imlay said his store survives on customer loyalty.

"Service is a big part of our business," said Imlay.  "We’ve been in business for so many years, and I attribute that to good service and good product quality that I think you can get from a small local retailer as opposed to a large chain."

Imlay said the day helps boost sales as the holiday shopping season kicks off.  He and his family have been working hard to fill the store with Christmas items.

"We grow our own Christmas trees, and we have a tree farm now, so that’s pretty exciting for us, and we do a lot of custom-made silk work and fresh arrangements for the holidays," said Imlay.

Imlay Florists is the oldest continuously family owned and operated florist in the country.
