Shrider Sentenced in Fatal Accident

A Zanesville man was sentenced Monday in connection with a fatal accident last December. The Muskingum County Prosecutor’s Office says 22-year-old Spencer Shrider went before Common Pleas Judge Mark Fleegle and received five years in prison and a mandatory driver’s license suspension. On September 5th Shirder pled no contest to two counts of aggravated vehicular homicide and three counts of operating a vehicle under the influence. The Court found him guilty on all counts. Zanesville Police says on December 24th of 2016 Shrider was driving north on Northpointe Drive, went off the road and struck a utility pole. Police say a passenger in the vehicle, 22-year-old Shey Herd died as a result of the accident.
