Shriners Farm offering unique Sweet Corn at Zanesville Farmers Market

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- A longtime farmer is offering some unique sweet corn at the Downtown Zanesville Farmers Market.
Fred Shriner and his wife have operated Shriners Farm since 1969. Shriner cares for six acres of sweet corn and when the picking is right he offers some of it to customers at the Farmers Market.
“Well I have silver king, a lot of people coming around thinking its silver queen but it’s not its queen variety and here I have incredible and its a yellow corn and right now we are between batches on the bi-color, we probably wont have any bi-color until a week from Saturday.”
Apart from the sweet corn Shriners Farm features homemade strawberry jelly.
“Sometimes we will hire a couple of school boys or school girls to pick berries and I try to help stem them once in a while and she makes the jam. So we usually have fresh jam in season but shew makes a couple hundred jars so we sell some with sweet corn.”
If interested in trying the unique silver king white corn you can catch Shriners Farm this Saturday for the Zanesville Farmers Market at the fairgrounds from nine to noon.
