Skrobot Signs With Defending MAC Champs

Rosecrans standout Gabe Skrobot will take a different avenue than most high school football players joining Division I programs.

The senior lineman signed with MAC power Bowling Green on Wednesday as a preferred walk-on long snapper, passing on interest from Purdue and Central Michigan.

"They’ve got a great program going on and they’ve got a lot of great recruits coming in also," Skrobot said of the Falcons. "I think it’s going to carry on for a long time,"

Though Skrobot won’t be receiving a scholarship in the fall, the Bishop is confident that he’ll earn his way to the top of the depth chart.

"Of course I’m going as a preferred walk-on, but I know I can have a chance to earn a scholarship," he said. "After I work my butt off throughout the season and the offseason, I’ll be ready to fill in that (long snapper) spot."

Skrobot hasn’t decided on his major, but plans on entering the medical field. The Falcons have captured the MAC title two of the past three seasons.
