Sky Will Twinkle More Tonight
The sky will have a little extra twinkle this evening.
The annual Leonid meteor shower peaks tonight. Forecasters have predicted the shower should produce about 20 to 30 meteors over North America. And, since the moon is in it’s new phase, the sky will be dark enough for what they say could be the best Leonid shower in years.
Leonids are parts of debris from the Comet Tempel-Tuttle. The comet visits the inner part of our solar system every 33 years and leaves bits of debris in its wake.
The densest stream will hit about 4 a.m., but you will be able to spot some meteors anytime between 1 a.m. and dawn.
