Somerset Will Host Fracking Info Session

Residents of Perry County will have a chance to discuss why hydraulic fracturing is coming to Southeast Ohio and the effects it may have on their community.

The United Way along with the Perry County Land Owners Association are hosting a shale oil & gas event to provide basic information about fracking. United Way Resource Development Director Lori Mills says this is a good chance for residents to consult with experts on hydraulic fracturing.

"Anybody who has heard about this event or this process and has questions it’s a perfect time to come and get their questions answered," said Mills.

The event is free and open to the public. Mills says Shawn Bennett from Energy In Depth Ohio will be the guest speaker and representatives from the state will also be in attendance.

"State Representative Bill Hayes and State Senator Tim Schaffer are going to be on hand to give us an update at the state level so we hope that you can join us and like I said it’s a perfect time to get your questions answered," said Mills.

The community event will take place Monday, June 18th at 6 p.m. at the Somerset American Legion.
