‘Sophomore Showcase’ at Mid East Career and Technology Center

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- High School Sophomores were able to see possible career options at Mid East Career and Technology Center.
Sophomores from local high schools had the opportunity to see the programs Mid East offers and if the school is the right fit for them. Public Information Coordinator Stacey Snider said students get to select four different programs to view on their field trip.
“A lot of times we’ll have students who say I know I want to do carpentry but then they get here and they see three other programs that maybe they weren’t even sure what they would do in those labs and they completely change their mind. So, that’s why we want to make sure that students are making the right decision,” said Snider.
The programs are hands-on so when the sophomores visit the labs they will get to use the equipment that is used in the field. Snider said students were able to dive in during the preview just like they would if they were current Mid East students.
“This event used to be called Sophomore Hands On, so we switched to Sophomore Showcase, but that hands-on still has a lot of meaning because that’s what they do. They’re in each program for about 30-40 minutes and they get to touch, see, feel, and do just like they were real students,” said Snider.
For prospective students, there will be an open house on November 20th from 6 to 7:30 P.M. at Zanesville Mid East Campus.
