ZANESVILLE, Ohio- This week marks Spring Severe Weather Awareness Week.

Muskingum County Emergency Management Agency Director Bo Keck stresses the importance of preparation for sever weather.

“I highly recommend is if you have an iPhone get one of the weather apps. I know WHIZ has a good app. Get those apps because they are really good. They get it out quick. Also we have a Citizen Alert 60 website where you can go in login and get notifications from us, not just weather but other notifications. We try to get warnings and notifications out quickly,” said Keck.

Keck said there are 43 tornado sirens located throughout Muskingum County. Earlier this week the EMA moved one siren from Good Samaritan Hospital to the Genesis Foundation on Maple and Adair Avenue.

“If there is a power outage, a lot of these sirens will not activate. Some will some won’t. We have some back up ones on batteries. We have some on generators. But all 43 of them won’t activate if there is a power outage in your area. So again pay attention to the weather. If you see something bad take cover right away,” said Keck.

Keck said the EMA will put a new siren at the Muskingum County Fairgrounds.
