SR 60 South Still Closed

If you were hoping that State Route 60 South would be open starting Wednesday you are going to be disappointed. The rock wall project just south of Duncan Falls is taking longer than expected. Ohio Department of Transportation District 5 Public Information Officer Ericka Pfeifer says it’s looking like the road will reopen Tuesday or Wednesday of next week. She says the nature of the wall is such that it really is a day to day process in how much the contractor can accomplish. Pfeifer says crews removed a rock face and hung a mesh wire fence to stabilize the rock and are currently in the last step building a retaining wall to keep back any rock that may fall. The contractor, Shelly and Sands started receiving a $3,500 a day fine for ever day the road goes unopened after September 22nd.
