ZANESVILLE, Ohio- An annual festival in downtown Zanesville is kicking off the summer from Thursday June 8th to Saturday June 10th.

St. Thomas Church hosted their annual festival Thursday from 5 to 10 pm, Friday from 5 pm to midnight and Saturday from 6 pm to midnight on the corner of Shinnick and 5th in downtown Zanesville. Festival Chairwoman, Melanie Von Gunten, explained the festival features activities for all ages.

“We have a lot of good entertainment scheduled, the foods always wonderful, we have kids games, we have bingo, we have blackjack for the more daring people who like to gamble.”

Live music also accompanied the variety of activities in a festival Von Gunten called “generational”.

“The festival is a generational festival in a sense that its been here forever. Back in the dark ages when I was a child we actually could ride ponies for 10 cents a ride and its evolved a little bit since then but it’s very much part of our fellowship as our parishioners here, it’s a community aspect because even people who are not parishioners have come to the festival for years.”

Admission is free and money raised from the festival will go to support the needs of the St. Thomas Church.
