Starlight Students Honored as Artists of the Month
The ZAAP Art Gallery will feature not one, but several artists this month.
Students of Starlight School will showcase their original masterpieces at the First Friday Art Walk this week. The gallery invited 11 talented artists from the “Heart of the Art Studio” to be the guests of honor. One of the featured artists, Susan Cornell, will have several prolific pieces on display. She specializes in painting, and her “Field of Dreams” piece is one of her most notable works.
“I love to pain peacocks, and I love to do field of dreams, and giraffes,” Cornell said. “It makes me feel real happy, I love to paint.”
The students have a gallery space at the Masonic Temple in downtown Zanesville, where several pieces of their work are on display for show and sale. Art facilitator for Starlight, Diana Guidenberger, said the exhibit has been a huge hit among art enthusiasts.
“For those who are artists, the most active ones sell regularly, every month we have a busy gallery going, and they just keep creating art, and that’s how they’re making money, so they’re basically self-employed artists,” Guidenberger said.
You can view all of the student’s pieces this Friday, from 5 until 8 p.m. at the First Friday Artwalk, at the ZAAP Gallery on Main Street.
