NEW CONCORD, OH – A 5K race that supports local veterans and first responders is coming to New Concord.

The first ever Stars and Strides 5K will be on Saturday, August 8th at 6PM, with the race starting in the Park heading through the Village, down Route 40 a little before looping around and heading back to the park.

Chris Davis, the Founder of the Bravo Six Foundation, says this is the first year for the Stars and Strides 5K but is hopeful to make it an annual event.

“A couple years ago, there was a big need online for veterans and first responders who were facing different financial needs in the area.” Davis said. “They had already reached out to the agencies but because of paperwork and things and logistics, there was some delay. I thought we could create something that could kind of bridge that gap, while they’re waiting on that assistance through area agencies, we could provide immediate assistance for their immediate need, right then.”

The Bravo Six Foundation helps veterans and first responders with things like evictions, foreclosures, fuel, medication costs, as well as food if people need it.

Davis says they also host a monthly peer-to-peer support group for vets and first responders so they know they’re not alone.

All of the proceeds from the race heading back to Bravo Six for their relief programs to help those struggling.

“Registrations will go all the way to the time of the event, so they can walk in on August 8th at 5:59 PM and sign up right then and there.” Davis said.
