Stars and Stripes on the River 2009
The Zanesville Jaycees are once again getting ready to host Stars and Stripes On the River.
The event will take place the Friday, July 3rd and Saturday July 4th, at Zane’s Landing Park. All of the proceeds the Jaycees make from the two-day celebration go to benefit the community.
“We turn around and use those for our scholarship fund here in Zanesville that we give out annual scholarships each year to three or four graduating seniors to use toward their college funds,” says Dave Mortimer, president Zanesville Jaycees.
Stars and Stripes begins Friday at 6 p.m, and the Joe Roberts Band will perform from 7 to 11 p.m. On Saturday they’ll have a poker run beginning at 11 a.m., both Domino and Sour Jayne will perform, and the fireworks display will begin at 9:45.
Organizers say at Stars and Stripes there’s something fun for everyone to do.
“It’s a good family event. Everyone’s welcome there’s no fee it’s free for everyone. There’ll be plenty of things to do, plenty of things to see and we’d like to again invite everyone down to the event,” says Ben Whitacre, vice president Zanesville Jaycees.
