Staying Sober During the Holidays
As we prepare to bring in a new year with fun and excitement, others who suffer with drugs and alcohol problems may find it difficult to stay on the right track.
Muskingum Behavioral Health is providing services for those who may struggle to stay sober with all the pressures and temptations during the holiday season.
“The basic thing that we have to consider is a lot of addicts consider fun to be affiliated with drug use. So in holiday seasons their so use to utilizing it as an aspect of fun. But, then you also have addicts and alcoholics who are also consumed by a lot of guilt during the holiday and it pushing them into use because they are trying to nullify the pain,” said Dana Pritchett.
Pritchett said if you or someone you know is trying to stay clean or receive help, his door is always open.
“First of all, anyone can come in and always talk to me. I always advise them to select their path recovery, because there are multiple paths to recovery. I let them know they have options in these paths and in this path selection you do have a lot of options,” said Pritchett.
