Stephens Leads the Way for New Lexington Over Philo

NEW LEXINGTON, OH

We head out to Jim Rockwell Stadium for the only all-MVL battle of the night between New Lexington and the Philo Electrics. New Lexington would get the ball first and jump out quick. Isaiah Stephens keeps it, makes a man miss with the juke moves and gets a big play on the gain and moves the sticks. A couple plays later, Stephens off the play action, avoids pressure rolling to his right and finds an open Bentley Hanson in the end zone for the touchdown! The basketball connection showing off in the end zone.

But Philo would respond right back. Jack Lincicome rolls out of the pocket and throws a dart to his running back, Talon Preston, and he tiptoes the sideline and gets a huge gain on the play to move the sticks once more.

Now, move on to fourth down and the drive. Preston gets the handoff, breaks it outside, shows off the speed down the sideline and in for the touchdown. Next quarter after a nice stop on defense, Lincicome, after not completing a pass last week, is in trouble. Looks for anything to get him out of this and he launches it to Aidan Mahon and he gets inside the 15-yard line.

Then it’s Preston again, this time showing off the power! He gets stopped at the five, but his teammates don’t let him down! They all move the pile and it’s the Electrics taking a 12-11 lead. But, the Panthers offense would find its’ stride. It’s Stephens, quick pass to Tyson Spicer, and the sophomore shows off the wheels with the huge 35-yard gain, making people miss and puts them inside the 25-yard line.

Just like that, Stephens showing off the magic, rolling left hitting Owen O’Brien. He gets the catch and he moves them inside the one, but he fumbles into the end zone. But the Panthers were able to get it back and it’s a touchdown to regain the lead. The Panthers would keep things rolling the entire rest of the way. That offense, like I was telling you, they would cruise on to the rest of the way 44-19 and the win to move to 2-0 on the season, Stephens ends up with three touchdowns passing.

For the Electrics, they will look to get their first victory next week when battle the Maysville Panthers.
