ZANESVILLE, Ohio- Groups of people were seen walking throughout Zanesville today and it was all to take a step in faith.

Drug Free Muskingum hosted the “Steps in Faith Prayer Walk” this morning. The walkers started off at Muskingum Valley Vineyard Church where the 230 participants were split into 12 groups. The groups then set off walking to 12 different stops to join hands and offer prayer.

“We wanted to bring the faith community into our drug coalition. So this is how we decided to do that was to do this prayer walk. We selected 12 different spots to actually walk to and to pray upon those spots,”said Monica Batteiger of Drug Free Muskingum.

Some of the stops include Christ’s Table, the Zanesville City Jail, Putnam Homeless Shelter, and Bethel House. Drug Free Muskingum wants to help connect the community to resources and to highlight the work the organizations do.

“At each stop we have somebody there that actually is offering information to our walkers. You know, we have somebody there that maybe can give a testimony how that place has changed their lives and that also can provide to them how that establishment can help them or maybe somebody they know,” said Batteiger.

The walk ended with the groups gathering at the Salvation Army. Drug Free Muskingum plans on doing more events in the future.
