Sting Operation Car Chase

 The Coshocton Sheriff’s Office reports a sting operation turned into a chase.

On Wednesday around 5:30 pm Coshocton undercover officers met an adult male who believed he was there to meet a 12-year-old girl he had solicited for sex through Facebook.

As officers moved in, the suspect fled ramming into an undercover sheriff’s vehicle. The fleeing suspect then led officer on a chase through the City of Coshocton and into West Lafayette where a West Lafayette Officer successfully used spike strips on the suspects vehicle.

The pursuit ended with a minor crash on state route 93 just north of the village.

The male suspect was taken into custody and is being held pending the filing of formal charges.

This investigation is a collaborative effort between West Lafayette Police Department, Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office and the Coshocton County Prosecutor’s Office. 

Assisting officers on the scene outside West Lafayette were Coshocton County EMS, Prince’s Wrecker and REACT.
