Striking Out Those Winter Blues

After Wednesday nights snow fall and another snow day for local students, it’s clear that most people are just sick of winter.

During bad weather drivers must spend extra time on their morning commute and schools, already having used up all of their calamity days, may have to take another day away from spring break.

With the cold weather and snow many have been forced to stay indoors for the better part of two months, leaving them with a terrible case of cabin fever. Unable to stand the snow any longer people are starting to look for alternative ways to strike out those winter blues.

“Yeah, we get a lot of kids off of school days, parents seem like they’re frazzled trying to find the kids something to do, so they come out and go bowling,” said Sunrise Strikes employee, Pat Mathes.

Tim Kinney is just one of those parents looking to keep his son, Tim Jr., Entertained during one of his many snow days. Sick of the snow, the Kinney’s are turning to bowling as an alternative form of winter fun.

“You know, he’s out of school for another day so we’re just out getting out of the house,” said Kinney.

And while the little ones may not be ready to head back to school just yet, even they’re looking for fun ways to escape the cold.

Siblings, Mackenzie and Ashton, spent Thursday bowling at Sunrise Strikes, but with temperatures possibly hitting the 60’s by the end of next week pretty soon it’ll be back to school.
