A three story home just outside of Frazeysburg is considered a total loss after a fire earlier Sunday evening.

Crews were called to a structure fire on Dove rd. just after 5 p.m. First Assistant Chief of Frazeysburg Fire Department Rich Pierce said it started on the porch of the home where a space heater was on to keep the family’s pets warm. Three members of the family were home at the time and noticed the porch fire. They attempted to extinguish it. But, were not successful and called 911.

When fire fighters arrived on scene the home was fully engulfed in flames. One family pet, a cat was harmed in the fire. Pierce said the weather and location of the home made it difficult to get the blaze under control.

Fire fighters were still working to control the fire when our WHIZ crew left the scene. Frazeysburg Fire was assisted by Dresden Fire Department, and Licking Township Fire Department.
