Super Bowl driving safety

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- Super Bowl Sunday is upon us and while many people have plans to have fun that day law enforcement wants to remind everyone to be safe.
“Well Sunday night is, you know, the Super Bowl night for everyone that’s interested in the NFL and the football. And we encourage anyone that’s going out to drive safely. Put your seat belt on. And you know, of course, don’t drink and drive,” said Chief Tony Coury of the Zanesville Police Department.
Don’t drink and drive. It’s a phrase you hear often, but can’t be said enough. Coury said it’s important to have a plan to make sure you keep yourself and others safe.
“Most of the bars in the area do have rides available and they have contact numbers for the local cabs. Some other people may have the app for the Lyft services so they can make that phone call or make that connection there and make sure they get home safe.”
Coury said there won’t be any extra manpower on the streets but don’t think officers won’t be out. He said they are willing to help and if you see something out of the ordinary you should let them know. But if you do drink and drive, you’ll face the consequences.
“If you are drinking and driving you can expect to get, be in trouble if we get behind you. We’re asking you not to drink and drive and drive safe.”
Coury said his department would rather give someone who’s had a little too much to drink a ride rather than risking someone else get hurt.
