Susan Ann Christopher Rossi

August 18, 1938 – February 17, 2025

Susan Ann Christopher Rossi, 86, of Guilford, CT, formerly of Zanesville, OH, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 17, 2025, at the Guilford House.

Susan was born on August 18, 1938, in Albion, MI, to the late Guy Victor “Vick” Christopher and Emily Elizabeth Clawson Christopher. She spent her early years in Albion before attending high school in Baltimore, MD.

In 1960, Susan graduated from Alfred University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. That same year, she married Frank D. Rossi, whom she met at Alfred University. They built a beautiful life together, sharing 42 years of love and partnership until Frank’s passing in 2003.

Susan’s lifelong passion for caring for others led her to a career in nursing. She worked in pediatrics and the newborn nursery at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York City before moving to Zanesville in 1961. There, she continued her work in the newborn nursery and pediatrics department at Good Samaritan Hospital. Later, she dedicated herself to teaching, shaping the next generation of nurses as a pediatric nursing instructor at Ohio University-Zanesville and the Good Samaritan School of Nursing.

Faith was an important part of Susan’s life. She was a devoted member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, where she was active in the Parish Council, the Rosary Altar Society, and the School Board. In the 1980s, she combined her love of faith and literature as the owner and operator of The Giving Tree, a Christian bookstore in Colony Square Mall.

Susan embraced every chapter of life with enthusiasm and warmth. At her Florida residence, she found joy in her community, taking part in neighborhood activities such as The Book Club and The Opera Club.

Above all, Susan cherished her family. She is survived by her four sons: Michael (Ann Marie) Rossi of Clinton, CT; Stephen Rossi of Zanesville, OH; Jeffrey (Patti) Rossi of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL; and Gregory (Amy) Rossi of Uhrichsville, OH. She was a loving and proud grandmother to eight grandchildren: Katherine (Colin) Bancroft, Dominic Rossi, Elaina (Bob) Anguish, Graham Rossi, Darian Rain Rossi, Paige Rossi, Frank Rossi, and Anthony Rossi; three great grandchildren, Bud Anguish, Oliver Bancroft and Ezekial Anguish. She is also survived by her sisters, Ruth Mary Christopher and Nancy Klein; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Susan was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frank D. Rossi (2003); a daughter, Catherine Marie Rossi (1971); and her brothers, Douglas and David Christopher.
