Suspect arrested in drug bust

Perry County Sheriff William Barker said a 39-year-old man is in custody in connection with a drug bust in New Lexington.

Deputies, along with the Central Ohio Drug Enforcement Task Force and agents from the Ohio Adult Parole Authority searched a home at 7304 State Route 345. Sheriff Barker said officers discovered heroin and bulk quantities of methamphetamine.

Detectives said they also seized an undisclosed amount of currency. Barker says the suspect is charged with felony counts of Aggravated Drug Trafficking and felony drug possession. Two teenage children were inside the home at the time of the search. The name of the person arrested is not being released until he is formally charged. He is being held in the Southeast Ohio Regional Jail.
