Suspects in Drug Raids Plead Not Guilty

The Muskingum County Prosecutor’s Office says six of seven people indicted in connection with two drug raids in Zanesville appeared in court Wednesday and all pleaded not guilty. Among those who appeared prosecutors say 36-year-old Darren Reese of Zanesville who is facing multiple charges including trafficking and possession of drugs had his bond continued at 2-million dollars. One suspect who was indicted last week – Wesley Newman – remains at large. Sheriff Matt Lutz says more charges are possible in the investigation which focused on homes located on Pine and Baker Streets. More than 120-thousand dollars worth of drugs were confiscated in the case.

Other suspects who appeared in court and pleaded not guilty:

22-year-old Robert Horton Jr. and 45-year-old Robert Horton Sr., both of Zanesville and both facing two counts of trafficking in drugs. Their bonds continued at $1,000,000 each.

21-year-old Sia Franklin of Zanesville is charged with one count of permitting drug abuse. Bond continued at $50,000.

53-year-old David McLaurin of Zanesville is charged with one count of trafficking in drugs. Bond continued at $100,000

37-year-old Leroy Nelson of Columbus is charged with two counts of possession of drugs. Bond continued at $1,000,000.
