Swopestock 2009

It might of been a small stage, but the band packed a loud punch.

The Flashback Band, a local group in Zanesville, rocked out today for the second Swopestock, named so after the host Russ Swope.

“Two years ago we had our first Swopestock,” said Swope. “Last year we had planned for it and it was supposed to rain, so we postponed it and had no rain. This is our second attempt in three years.”

Swope said today reminded him of the original Woodstock 40 years ago.

“They had rain their first few days there and they made the best of it too,” he said. “They rolled around in the mud and had a good time, but we’re not going to do that. We’re going to keep it clean.”

The Swopes built a shelter in their backyard, but couldn’t use it because of the weather, so, they moved it to the garage.

Swope says the group still had a decent turnout, bringing out about 50 people.
