Sylvester Jones III

Sylvester Valentina Jones III, affectionately known as Tina/Sly, was born on October 26, 1954, in Zanesville, Ohio, to Sylvester Jones Jr. and the late Georgianna (Alexander) Jones. He passed away, Saturday, March 15, 2025, leaving a legacy of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories.
Tina attended Zanesville High School and proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. He had an adventurous spirit, evident in his love for motorcycles and his involvement in several motorcycle clubs. Fishing brought him immense joy, and his career path took him from Owens Corning in Newark, Ohio, to life on the open road as a semi-truck driver. His travels took him across the country, and he never hesitated to surprise loved ones with an unannounced visit, no matter where they lived. His warm smile—often highlighted by his signature gold tooth—will be missed by all who knew him.
He leaves behind his wife, Wanda (Quinnie) Jones; his father, Sylvester (Lois) Jones Jr.; and his children: Christopher Miller, Lamont Jones, Ish Howe, Brandon Norris, Nathaniel (Kim) Jones, E’lena Jones, Jamal Jones, Mary Ellen Hill, Jamie Thomas, and Salica Thomas. He is also survived by his siblings: Magdaline (Beany) Sellers, Barnard (Cora) Brown, Ellen Brown, Beverly (Justine) Sowers, Nathaniel Jones, Sonya Jones, James Jones, Christine Jones, Coressa (Larry) Key, Carmen Jones, Michael (Cheryl) Jones, and Timothy (Danielle) Jones.
Tina was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Georgianna (Alexander) Jones; his sister, Rebecca Brown; his brother, Maurice Jones; his daughter, Chelsea Jones Gates; his grandchild, Sha’mez Gates; and Shalawn Haveren.
A devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Tina/Sly touched countless lives with his kindness and adventurous spirit. His love and legacy will be cherished by his many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends for generations to come.
