Tax Break
Coverage on effectively filing your taxes continues. Filing early can save you the upset of doing your taxes wrong and also potentially save you a few extra bucks.
The United Way is offering free clinics and help for those who want tax filing assistance. About 15 volunteers are available to assist. Evening and weekend appointments are available through the first week in April. Filing early can make the process easier.
"That way if any kind of problems that come up they can be solved and you are not scrabbling to do them on April 18," Amy Davis, United Way.
As long as you bring all of your documents like a W2, a 1099 or a 1098, you should be able to receive your refund within 8 – 10 days. You’ll also want to bring your taxes from last year. To be sure everything is claimed and you get the most back from Uncle Sam, Davis suggests bringing anything you think you will be able to write off.
"To make sure you have everything correct. That you are claiming children you need to be claiming um to bring little things in you know if you are going to school and say you bought your books out of pocket you want to make sure you bring the receipts in so you can get some of those education credits" said Davis.
All volunteers went through a six hour training course to be sure they can help with taxes accurately. Remember the service is completely free.
