Ted A. Echemann (August 3, 1928 – May 2, 2011)

Ted A. Echemann, 82 of Zanesville , OH died 11:41 AM Monday, May 02, 2011 at Riverside Methodist Hospital Columbus.
He was born Friday, August 03, 1928 in Piqua OH the son of Theodore A. and Amelia (Wendlen) Echemann.
Ted graduated from Holy Angels High School in Sidney Ohio where he was a member of the High School Marching Band. He was Army Veteran having served in the Korean War and was stationed in France. Ted started his sales career with Omar Bakery in Sidney Ohio and retired as a supervisor with the Frito-Lay Company in Zanesville. He was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, enjoyed traveling with his wife, visiting with all his grandchildren, playing tennis with his “What’s The Score” tennis buddies, and buying and selling stocks.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Shirley (Oldiges) Echemann who he married May 1, 1954, his step-mother Louella Echemann of Sidney; five children Nancy (Dave) McVicker of Sacramento CA, Mike (Chris) Echemann of Downers Grove, IL, Jerry Echemann of Martins Ferry, Jane (Chase) Johnson of Zanesville, and Wendy Blosser of Columbus. 10 grandchildren, Ted Echemann, Claire McVicker, Amelia and Mary Echemann, Erin Best, Austin and Spencer Echemann, Jenna and Caroline Johnson, and Andrew Blosser. He is also survived by a brother Rafe (Barbara) Echemann of Sidney, 3 sisters, Janet (Tom) Aselage of Tipp City , Roseanne (Tom) Lehmkuhl of Dayton, and Eileen (Phil) Myers of Sidney, a sister-in-law Phyllis Echemann, and several nieces and nephews. Ted was preceded in death in addition to his parents by a brother Howard Echemann and a sister Ruth Schields.
Visitation will be held from 5-8pm with Christian Vigil at 5:00pm on Thursday May 5, 2011 at the Hillis & Hardwick Funeral Home, 935 Forest Ave. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30am Friday May 6, 2011 at St. Thomas Catholic Church, 144 North Fifth Street with Father Luke Turon, O.P. as celebrant. Committal prayers by Fr. Jordan Turano, O.P. and burial with military honors will conclude in the Mt. Olive Cemetery Zanesville.
