Teens Serve A Healthy Lunch At Christ’s Table

Today local teenagers took time away from their summer to help those less fortunate.

The Muskingum County Teen Institute kids prepared and served lunch to the customers of Christ’s Table. The high-school aged teens thought it was important that they offer help to those in need year-round, not just in the winter.

“And one of the neat things was the kids decided to do it in the summer time,” says Kris Headley, T.I Coordinator of Muskingum County. “Because they said so many people do things in the winter time for the less fortunate but don’t think about them when it’s nice out and when it’s sunny out. And we still need health products when it’s warm out.”

Aside from serving lunch the teens prepared 200 ‘health goody bags’ to pass out to each customer. These bags consisted of tooth brushes, hand sanitizers and other helpful products. They also passed out donated coupons for children to get a free happy meal and toy.

“The Muskingum County Teen Institute kids have just worked really hard with this; asking for donations, they held a community yard sale to get some money for the products. But you know what, the community was wonderful when the kids called for donations they were more than happy to donate. So it was really a team effort.”

Over 150 customers were expected to enjoy the kids’ lunch today. Any left over goody bags will be saved at Christ’s Table to be offered to customers who weren’t there today.
