Thanksgiving with Zanesville Fire Department

With fires and other emergencies, the ones who serve and protect our community often don’t get an off day for the holidays. That doesn’t mean they can’t make the best of it and take a moment to celebrate Thanksgiving with each other, though.

The Zanesville Fire Department gathered together today to give thanks and have a turkey dinner with their fire-family.

“Today we cooked some food. A Thanksgiving meal. We blessed the food before we ate. I am happy to be together and have a good time, eat a lot of food, and some turkey; then take a nap,” said Reed.

When we asked Reed how did he feel to be working on Thanksgiving he had a mouth full to say.

“I think most of the guys has been doing it for a while. It becomes the norm and somebody has to be here to help people when they need it. I think this is the time of the year where guys like to have fun and always smile. Of course when there’s food mixed with firemen, we are always happy about that,” said Reed.

The Fire-Fighters also plan to celebrate Christmas with a dinner with each other as well. And should there be an emergency situation, they’ll be ready to serve their community.
