The 18th Annual SOUPer Bowl

Many people left the Muskingum County Center for Seniors with full stomachs this afternoon

The 18 annual SOUPer Bowl luncheon took place from 10 A.M. until 2 P.M. The luncheon served a wide selection of soups along with sandwiches, drinks and cookies. This years SOUPer Bowl had many activities and offered both dine-in and carry-out options. Executive Director of Christ’s Table Keely Warden said they’ve been very busy.

"We’re doing a half-and-half , we also do a wonderful silent auction and we also have a good bake sale going on too. Everything here today is home-made by the church ladies, and if you can’t get enough to eat here today then there’s something wrong with ya."

Tickets to the event were $5 and the executive director of Christ’s Table, Keely Warden says because of wide community support for every ticket sold $15 went to the five recipient organizations. Those organizations are Christ’s Table, The Fellowship of Christ’s Community, East Side Community Ministry, Muskingum County Center for Seniors and the Salvation Army. Warden says the SOUPer Bowl couldn’t of been pulled off without help from volunteers and sponsors.

"And we want to put a big thank you out to all the volunteers that’s helped pull this off. Over 100 volunteers it takes to pull off the SOUPer Bowl each year. Then of course we have our corporate sponsors and our church sponsors that come together."

22 churches and 19 corporate sponsors helped to make this years soup-er bowl possible.
