The 2016 FoodWorks Alliance Baking Competition

One organization has cooked up a competition for local residents.
The FoodWorks Alliance held its very first baking competition early Saturday morning. This event was open to the public to participate in the judging while also having the opportunity to taste some delicious samples and tour the facility’s kitchen. The Director of the FoodWork Alliance, Carol Humphreys said, they wanted to get more members of the community involved and have fun at the same time.
“Our goal here is to get the folks out to enjoy each others taste to of course award some nice gifts and also be able to talk about the kitchen and what we do here and see if there is someone who might need assistance in growing a business in their baking,” said Humphreys.
30 contestants competed toward the winning prize. Humphreys said there were entries of all ages, some as young as 7 years old.
“We have some very nice prizes. The overall prize is a $250 check plus a membership to FoodWorks Alliance. Then we have gifts cards and we have some beautiful engraved glassware, there is quite a few prizes that will be awarded,” said Humphreys.
Humpheys told us this is something they plan to host again.
