The 22nd Annual Martin Luther King Jr Scholarship Fund Prayer Breakfast

ZANESVILLE, Ohio-Â A big crowd turns out to celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
More than 500 members of the community gathered at North Terrance Church of Christ for the 22nd Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship Fund Prayer Breakfast.
“This is indeed a great honor to say that we have accomplish giving scholarships to students for 22 years. I’ve very proud of our students. I’m extremely happy to continue such a outstanding program. We have a marvelous crowd here to help celebrate not only the students but also the 4 organizations we’re honoring, American Red Cross, Muskingum County Community Foundation, United Way, and Big Brothers Big Sisters,” said MLK Scholarship Fund Chair, Kathy Brantley.
During the prayer breakfast students were presented with scholarships.
“It’s a great honor. Martin Luther King was a great man. He did a lot of things for African-American society. It’s really a great honor, ” said scholarship recipient Akeem Mayle.
“It feels amazing to get this scholarship and to be one of the select few chosen for this,” said scholarship recipient Dashia Goins.
Brantley said this event is important because it gives the community a chance to unite.
