The 5th Annual ForeverDads Tribute Ceremony

 Five local fathers are honored for their leadership and service to the community.

Nearly 500 folks came out to celebrate the 5th Annual ForeverDads tribute at North Terrace Church of Christ. Michael Steen said it’s important that organizations support men in the community.

"We feel there are in many cases a lot of support organizations for women but, we feel very strongly that the men needs support too. Their taken for granted at times but, you like to think man are stronger or whatever but, it’s not the case, they need assistance too. We feel that this is critically important. Particularly when you see the statistics of families, when the men are present, it’s a good family," said Michael Steen.

Receiving the Legacy of Fatherhood Award this year is Don McKendry, Bill Straker, Phil Newman, Jack Downing and the late John Montgomery.

"There are a lot of tears and laughter from the group. We have video tapes of each of the honoree’s and their families can bring forth how they feel about them and the honorees get to come up also," said Steen.

Along with the awards, each man received a book and a photo of the entire class as a momento.
