The Chatty Cat Closet opens at the Colony Square Mall
ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Chatty Cat Cafe at the Colony Square Mall doubles as a cafe and cat foster home, and this week the organization expanded with a new business at a new location.
The Chatty Cat Closet opened on Thursday and is a donation-based boutique featuring handbags, accessories, jewelry, home decorations, and clothing for men and women. Erica Roberts is the owner of the cafe and closet, and she was excited and surprised by the turnout she saw when they opened.
“It was so cool, cause this was an idea that we had and I could almost picture it when we were walking through the space as, like, the perfect layout. Everything was here that we needed and it all came together beautifully and seeing everyone here this morning to support us is more than words can say,” Roberts said.
The celebration included free cat lounge visits after spending $35 or more and pink lattes at the cafe. You can drop off donations to the Chatty Cat Closet and the money they make from selling those donated goods goes back into helping care for the felines being fostered.
“It’s always going back to the care of the cats. What we would like to do, long term, if all goes well, is launch some spay-neuter initiatives here in Muskingum County. So, that’s our ultimate goal is being able to get to that point but also, of course, supporting the adoption and foster care and helping cats get vet care that they may not necessarily get have those funds not been available,” Roberts said. “This is all about helping rescue cats find their forever homes. ”
The Chatty Cat Closet is open from noon to 7 p.m. on Thursdays through Saturdays, and from noon to 6 p.m. on Sundays.
