The community joins Genesis Healthcare System and Coconis Furniture to battle breast cancer

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the local community is coming together to take action.

Genesis Healthcare System in partnership with Coconis Furniture, Muskingum County Community Foundation, and several others are committed to help people recieve life-saving mammograms for free.

“We’re super excited this year to get a bigger response than ever. We’ve got something new this year,” said Pebbles Kieber, the director of Genesis Cancer Services. “A QR Code so you can go into any Coconis Furniture Mattress location or the Genesis Cancer Care Center and come in and get a voucher certificate or the QR code.”

This initiative is also supported by the Southeastern Ohio Breast and Cervical Cancer Project, Riverside Radiology/Lucid Health, and WHIZ. Between the vouchers and QR Codes, the program hope to reach more than 500 mammograms given to the community over the six years of the program.

“Truly what it comes down to it is our goal is to make sure that there’s absolutely no one in our communities in central and Southeast Ohio that can say no to a mammogram because of cost,” said Bo Coconis, owner of Coconis Furniture.
