The Festival of Trees marks 23rd Year

Just as Santa arrives on Main St., the Festival of Trees will light up the Welcome Center for the 23rd year.

The annual fundraiser begins its three day display Wednesday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Friday the primped pine trees with incentive packages will go up for bid. The Chamber of Commerce hopes to raise almost $50,000 this year.

“Based on what we’re seeing here, there’s fantastic entries and incentives,” said President of the Chamber of Commerce Tom Poorman. “I don’t think that’ll be a problem I think we’ll be able to match last year’s total.”

Other Christmas decor up for auction includes wreaths and crafts and all the money raised will benefit the chamber. They use money raised to develop business in the local community.

“From a fundraising standpoint, it’s critical,” said Poorman. “This is what helps balance our budget. This is what this is why we’re able to do what we do throughout the year in terms of small business development and economic development. ”

The three day event ends this Friday with the auction. You can listen to the auction live on AM-1240 and follow it online at ZMChamber.com. You can also call (740) 450-1990 to make your bids over the phone.
