ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Newborns require special care and attention to details that can seem overwhelming to first-time parents.

The Zanesville-Muskingum County Health Department is offering ‘The First Year Fair’ which aims to provide tips and resources for parents seeking how to best meet the needs of safely raising their little ones.

“This is a free community event. It’s designed for expectant families and parents with babies up to 1-year-old. Families will be able to explore interactive and educational stations. They’ll be able to connect with local resources and participate in car seat safety checks, all while earning free baby items along the way,” ZMCHD Community Health Worker and the Bridges to Wellness Program Supervisor Stefanie Kahle said.

The event will take place between 10 and Noon, Saturday, May 30th, at the Zanesville-Muskingum County Health Department, 205 North Seventh Street in Zanesville.

“They will go from station to station with a little safety passport and they’ll explore those stations, get some hands-on education, like hands-only CPR or a car seat safety check. And then they will come to the end and collect their prizes. Free car seats, they can get an infant carrier or a convertible car seat depending on their needs and then there will also be other safety items, diapers, wipes,” Kahle said.

Participants can register for ‘The First Year Fair’ by visiting the health department’s website or their Facebook page.
