“The Gym” in Downtown Zanesville
Downtown Zanesville is slowly becoming a breeding ground for the local economy, one business at a time.
"The Gym" on North 5th Street in downtown opened its doors to the public last month and Friday marked the official ribbon cutting ceremony of the 24-hour fitness center.
"Downtown is a great place to do that. It gives us shifts where people come through from all areas. They stop in here and that’s why we did the 24 hour access. It just makes a great place to set it up down here," says Curt Luburgh, Co-owner of "The Gym."
With The Gym being the 20th ribbon cutting ceremony in the Zanesville area within the past year and a half, Mayor Zwelling got right down to business at The Gym and worked on his cardio a bit.
"Why anybody that works downtown wouldn’t come up here 2 or 3 times a week and do 20 minutes of treadmill and maybe lift a little bit and do some crunches and go back to work," says Butch Zwelling, Mayor of Zanesville.
One of the big highlights of the new gym is that it is similar to a private club and you are not tied down to a contract. You are able to pay on a monthly basis.
"We don’t tie ourselves to your bank accounts, you don’t have an automatic withdrawal, you don’t have to worry about making that payment all the time, you come in, we have a simple dues box over there, you put your name on the envelope, pay your dues and give you a receipt," says Luburgh.
The Gym’s monthly fee is 20 dollars and is located on the the third floor of the Heritage Suites building in Downtown Zanesville.
