The Kiwanis Club Christmas party returns with record attendance

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Kiwanis Club of Zanesville hosted their annual Christmas party for local school children Wednesday.

Pizza, presents, Rudolph and Santa were all in attendance at the Fraternal Order of Eagles on East Market Street and were joined by a record number of children from five school districts.

“We have 94 kids coming in from the local schools and this is the largest crowd of kids that we’ve had, especially in all the years I’ve been doing this. So we’re excited to add more kids to impact their lives and do some good work in the community,” said Bridget Tetak, youth services director for the Kiwanis Club of Zanesville.

The Kiwanis Club and the high school Key Clubs raised money through their annual peanut sale and other fundraisers to help make the party a reality and buy presents for the children at the party. Tetak says its all for an important mission that the community has helped support.

“Well our mission first and foremost is to help kids in the community. That’s what we’re here to do so this is just a way for us to give back. We’re very thankful for the partnerships that we have. The Eagles has been generous to give us the space this year. Also, they provided some funding so that we could have some of those extra kids. So, big shout out to them,” Tetak said. “We also have our high school Key Club members her from five area schools. So, they help serve the kids. They are just a big part of how this day goes smooth. ”

The Kiwanis Club of Zanesville meets every Wednesday at 11:45 a.m. at Abbot Senior Living. If you would like to learn more about the Kiwanis Club of Zanesville, you can follow them on Facebook.
