The Last Book Store

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Literacy can immerse you into distant realms and the lives of others who are sculpted by the words on the pages of a well written book.
But getting your hands on the perfect book will become more difficult as the pages of Zanesville’s last used book store are counting down.
“We’ve decided that we’re going to close up the book store and we just kind of realized we’re the last bookstore… it will be the closing of the last bookstore in Zanesville,” Slack’s Book Barn Owner David Slack said. “And we just need… we have a lot of books, a lot of good books and we would like to find homes for them before we close the doors. We were shooting for mid September, October. That’s when we’re shooting for. So we’re hoping we can get everything accomplished before then.”
Slack said books don’t require feeding or upkeep once they are purchased and that the 25,000 or so books that he has are priced to sell. Additionally, as inventory dwindles, the shelving, carts and furniture will be available for purchase as well.
“Right now, we did last month and this month is 50 percent off of all the inventory,” Slack said. “But that’ll be until the end of July. And then August 1st, we’re going to start a new sale that will be a dollar a book across the board. And like I said, the goal is; yes, to try to make our money back but also to make sure that there’s a lot of good friends here that needs to find homes here before we go.”
Slack’s Book Barn is located at 1124 Wayne Avenue, in the Hillside Heights commercial space. For more information regarding the quality used books that are available, you can visit them online.
