The Legislative Breakfast featured discussions on energy independence, AI data centers, and property taxes

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Zanesville-Muskingum County Chamber of Commerce held its annual Legislative Breakfast at the Muskingum County Conference and Welcome Center.
The event hosted many chamber member organizations with guest speakers like U.S. Congressman Troy Balderson, Ohio Senator Al Landis, Ohio Representative Adam Holmes, and Matt Abbott from the Ohio Southeast Economic Development. The chamber bills the event as a chance to strengthen the community through collaboration.
“Today, we continue our role as advocates for our members at every level of government,” said Chamber President Dana Matz in his opening statement. “Collaborating with our public partners to create the conditions necessary for business growth, investment, and success. A key part of that work is building and maintaining relationships with our elected officials and their teams.”
Speakers at the event highlighted developments affecting the community, such as energy independence, property taxes, and how AI data centers plan to generate their own power sources to protect the public grid. For Holmes, the event is an opportunity to show that they are listening to what matters most in the community.
“It feels fantastic. I’m so proud of this community, I’m so proud to be a part of it and to represent it. There’s just a fundamental decency where we live and just the hardest working people I know. So we all agree as representatives to just be someone you can be proud of and to actually represent you at the State House and in the U.S. Congress,” Holmes said.
Holmes, Balderson, and Landis stressed that constituents should be encouraged to call their office to discuss concerns they have for their community.
