The Little Learning Center Lends a Big Hand

The Pre-K class from the Little Learning Center started a new learning tradition today.

The four and five year olds took a first-ever field trip to The Salvation Army where they donated food, helped with stocking shelves, made crafts and even sang Christmas songs. Owner and Director of the Little Learning Center, Mary jane Bednarczuk, says this field trip is a great learning opportunity for the Pre-K class.

"So, we did a food drive and all of our families participated in that throughout the school. But, then this class in particular sorted the food, counted the food, measured their bodies by the food. We’ve done a lot of learning and now we’re returning the food down here to the salvation army and filling their pantries."

Reporter Dana Simmer talked to four-year-old Landon about what he enjoyed most about the fieldtrip.

"What was your favorite part about today? Uhh putting the food away. What kinds of food did you guys bring? Um cereal and soup."

The little learning center also made a donation to The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle drive and would like to challenge other small businesses to do the same.
