ZANESVILLE, Ohio- Several gathered to witness a civil war battle while cruising along the Muskingum River.
The Lorena Sternwheeler Civil War reenactment on the river took place at Zane’s Landing and Riverside Park. Actors were dresses fully in 1860’s garb. And some residents even heard the cannon being shot from their homes near the river. Corporal Garth Wilson from First Ohio Battery A Artillery Unit shared his thoughts with us.
“This is for the spectators,” Wilson said. “This is for people to come out do something different with their day. Keep them out of trouble. We’re happy to be here. We’re all having fun. Everybody that’s interested in educating themselves and just looking for something to different to do. I want encourage anybody to give this a hobby a chance.”
Participants enjoyed entertainment by Civil War Historian Steve Ball and Civil War Encampment by Payton Seats. For more information, regarding the Lorena visit www.visitzanesville.com.
