COSHOCTON, OH – In the African nation of Zambia, the task of getting drinking water can be dangerous and exhausting, but a Coshocton based non-profit is hoping to help, one community at a time.

The Matthew 712 Project installs wells that provides accessible and clean drinking water to rural Zambian communities. Communities like the one Born Sianjina grew up in.

“I still remember as I was growing up, trying to go to school and trying to go fetch some water before I go to school and walk quite a distance to get to school. By the time I got to I was…I was exhausted, you know, it was time for a nap. That means my education was suffering so from that point of view it was something that has been so dear and so close to me and so passionate,” said Born, co-founder and CEO.

When it comes to community support, the Matthew 712 Project is looking for donations, volunteers, and spiritual support.

“Visiting out website, they can make financial contributions. Definitely praying for us. We appreciate that a great deal. There are other ways to get involved. If they would like to do a fundraising project, we would like to start, we want to call it Ground Breakers. There’s a connotation behind that with breaking ground for a well and one of the things that’s also important to us is sharing the gospel with most of the projects that we do. So we’ll be breaking ground for the seed of the gospel message as well,” said Angela Sianjina, co-founder and board secretary.

The Matthew 712 Project in Coshocton is a 501 (c) 3 Organization and according to their website they have drilled two wells so far, improving the lives of an estimated 2,350 people. Visit Thematthewproject.org for more information.
