The Noon Rotary Club Spreads Holiday Cheer
Residents at The Oaks at Northpointe were all smiles Saturday during the Noon Rotary Club’s third annual "Spreading Holiday Cheer" event.
Music filled the halls of The Oaks at Northpointe Saturday morning as residents got into the holiday spirit. The festivities included much more than just the singing, a visit from Santa Claus topped a day of events which included many holiday activities.
"I think it really brightens their day," said Noon Rotary Club member Jim Buchbinder. "I think it shows them that there are people in the community that care, and they’re part of the community."
Each year Rotarians get together the Saturday before Christmas to visit a facility where they feel they can spread the most holiday cheer. For Buchbinder the decision to visit The Oaks at Northpoint is personal.
"I have a memory of my father being in a nursing home for the last couple years before he passed on, and i though that it would be a really great idea to spread holiday cheer at an extended care facility this year."
The residents were visiably joyful as Rotarians helped them enjoy the holiday festivities
